John Unrue photographs weddings as a journalist photographs the world: with patience, with restraint, and with the kind of attention that only comes from spending three decades behind a camera. The pictures from his early weddings on Boca Grande, the Gasparilla Inn, and the families that summered along the Florida Gulf Coast have not stopped quietly arriving in living rooms for thirty years.

He has photographed for the Bissell and Busch families, and for many others whose names are kept off the record by request. He has been the resident photographer at The Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes Orlando since the day it opened. He has photographed a wedding closed by a fighter-jet flyover ordered by a golf pro on the only request he made. He has photographed three-day Hindu celebrations with fireworks over the lake, with two and three second shooters working alongside him. He has traveled for weddings in Italy, Maui, New York, and California, and continues to.

John books a small number of weddings each year, all over the country and internationally. He still answers his own phone. The images he delivers are edited by hand. The albums he designs are built by an artisan bindery in Italy. Every photograph on this site represents a real wedding, photographed on location. No AI, no stock, no composites. This is a practice. It always has been.
